Fresh Air

It's amazing the wonderful things fresh air can do for my body and my disposition. This morning Clark woke up in a whiny irritable mood. From the moment I walked down stairs with him he was crying, screaming and trying grab everything on the end table he wasn't supposed to touch. After a few minutes, I realized I was fighting a losing battle, so I took him back upstairs, put him back to bed and decided to rewind and start over in 30 minutes or so. He fussed at first, but then played in his bed for a while. He was in a better mood when I got him up the second time, but he was still clingy and ornery. He wanted my undivided attention and if I walked out of the room to get something from the kitchen, or heaven forbid go to the bathroom, he would have a meltdown.

So, I decided we needed some fresh air and I needed some exercise. As I mentioned on Facebook a few days ago, we found a shortcut to the country club that it right outside our neighborhood. It's a beautiful, peaceful ride and because of the short cut avoids all roads and traffic. I'm not sure how far we went since I can't drive it to clock the distance, but we rode all over the country club. We didn't even notice the wind and slight inclines in the sidewalk when we were walking the other day, but today on the bike they made for a nice leg workout. As I was coming back into our neighborhood I noticed Clark's head was bobbling around a bit. When I stopped to make sure he was OK I realized he had fallen asleep! He was completely passed out in the bike seat. The poor little guy looked so pitiful so I managed to prop his head up on my left arm while I steered with my right. He slept all the way home, let me take off his helmet, unstrap him from the seat and carry him up to his crib without waking up except to rest his head on my shoulder. He was one tired little boy!

Now, he's napping, I have the back door open and the fan going and my day has made a 180 degree turn for the better. A little fresh air made all the difference!

I don't have a picture of Clark asleep in the bike seat (although I wish I did), but here's a picture of him in the seat when he was awake. I love my bike and the freedom and exercise it gives us to explore in the gorgeous spring weather. Clark loves it too!!

  1. The next time you are at my house, I must remember to look up and give you a phone number of a friend who lives near you; it's well within a bike ride and they would love to see you. He was the Univ Pres and his wife was a friend and colleague. Please remind me.

Let's do the test Wednesday after dinner at church unless Michael thinks it will take too long. Love Gpa
